Win the Battle of Depression
2 Corinthians 10:4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;
2 Corinthians 10:5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
The Battle for the Mind?
According to the bible the mind of man is unique in that it is a place where Satan and his evil spirits fight against the truth.
Man’s will and spirit are like a fortified city, that evil spirits crave to capture and control. Referring to our text in Second Corinthians the Apostle Paul pictures the mind as the scene of a battlefield where evil spirits clash with God.
Satan works in a person’s mind to reach their emotions because the two are tied together.
He plants thoughts of doubt and unbelief into our mind (John 13:2). Even after hearing and believing the word of God Satan can steal the word from us (Luke 8:12) by sending negative and deceitful thoughts into our mind. He does this to gain access to our emotions to get us to make bad decisions based on our feelings.
What Are We Supposed To Do?
We are to love the truth! God’s word is truth. Fight against Satan’s lies by coming into agreement with God’s word regarding every matter in your life.
Jesus said you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free. (John 8:32).
The truth is, God loves you and has set you free from Satan’s powerful kingdom of darkness and has transferred you into the kingdom of His Son, Jesus Christ. As a citizen of His kingdom you have rights and privileges.
You have a right to have a sound mind. You have a right to be delivered from all forms of deception, oppression and premature death.
Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, died to deliver you from the works of the devil (1 John 3:8) You don’t have to live in sin. You don’t have to live with shame, depression and self-pity.
See thoughts of self-pity, shame and depression for what they are, Satanic arrows sent to break your spirit.
Here’s what David Hubbard said about the matter, “Depression is easier to prevent then to cure. Who can lift up a broken spirit once it sags to the bottom of hopelessness, inner disaster and psychosomatic affliction?
Fight Back. Your situation may not be as bad as you think. Proverbs says, all the days of the afflicted are evil Proverbs 15:15 (a). Satan can ruin every day of your life just by polluting your thoughts.
Look at your life through the word of God:
” For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”( Jeremiah 29:11).
There is hope for the future, if you believe it!
